Kenton & Trisha | WEDDING on the ISLAND

Manitoulin Island that is.

This was my favourite wedding of the year and I held off showing it because of that. This was my family.

I was so honoured to be asked by my cousin Sandy to photograph her daughter Trish's wedding. My family lives on the other side of Ontario and I havent seen that part of my family in 16 years! Crazy. So I really excited for October to come and visit with everyone and get away 'to the island'.

We were all staying for the weekend where the wedding was taking place - Lake Wolsey, where Kenton grew up. Kenton's family was so welcoming, and just simply, great people. Donna & Roger, you might see me again - I'd love to come back to the cabins for a vacation and we'd be sure to pay you a visit! And now you can please forgive me when you might notice a slight bias in pictures to the Halverson's! lol

I think there's one thing that will strike you as you look at this wedding. It's easy to see who Trish & Kenton are. I don't think I have ever come across a wedding that TRULY shows a couple's personality more so than this one. You will see what I mean as you go through the photos.

Congratulations Kenton & Trish. Thanks for having me.

We arrived just in time for the rehearsal. Cold & wet.

Trish is my cousin's daughter and aside from earlier in the year, I hadn't seen her since she was a toddler, about the same age as her daughter now. She has certainly grown into a beautiful woman and chosen a very handsome husband. Kenton is a "hugger" so I liked him immediately (not to mention those blue eyes, dimples and that voice)!

We woke to a beautiful morning - a bit chilly, but that didnt matter, it wasn't raining.

When I arrive where the guys are getting ready, I see one of the groomsmen with a bottle of tide and scrub brush and a HUGE puddle of tide across his shirt. So I ask what I happen..."I had a little spot on my sleeve I was going to get out, but then I spilled the bottle across the shirt, so I guess now I will jsut throw the shirt in the dryer and that will take care of it". Ummm NO, I explain..it will just come out of the dryer with a blue crust on it. (wedding is in an hour) So I told him to go finish getting ready and I'll take care of your shirt. So, I rinsed it out and threw it in the dryer -no time for an iron. But he wasnt a smurf for the wedding.

Yup, the guys were wearing work boots today and Carhardt work pants & shirts.

Weddings are all in the details.
What little girl wouldn't want to throw shot gun shells instead of petals?

And yes, they rode away to "Take you for a ride in my big green tractor.."

My husband (handsome guy, purple shirt) and I with my cousins & spouses and Aunt Esther. Sorry you couldnt be there Camy. Missed you!

Those boys looked mighty fine in their carhardt's. Who said you had to wear a tux to look good at a wedding.

Now what do you do when you don't have a knife to cut the cake....you pull out your jack knife of coarse!!! Yup. Redneck. Love it.

The day after the wedding, we gathered at Kenton's parents farm, just down the road from the cabins. Took a few more pictures, had some lunch before heading out on the long drive home.
